European Tug Owners Association - Secretary General
Anna Maria Darmanin is the Secretary General of the European Tugowners Association (ETA); an association that is the sole representative of the harbour towage sector in Europe. ETA represents over 85 tug owners in 25 different European Countries. Prior to joining ETA in 2016, Anna Maria Darmanin was a member of the European Economic and Social Committee representing Malta for 11 years. During her tenure at the EESC, Anna Maria was elected Vice President of the Committee for a full term between 2010 and 2013. As a member of the EESC she participated in a number of policy positions (opinions) of the EESC, including maritime related policy.
Anna Maria is also a visiting lecturer of the University of Malta with the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Science; and she is also an accredited lecturer of the Henley School of Business , University of Reading, on their MBA programme.
Prior to taking up a more European role Anna Maria for a number of years has run her own business; and also worked as a free lancer.
Anna Maria is an avid sailor, being both a commercially endorsed Skipper and a YachtMaster Instructor (RYA), and spends most of her free time at sea.
