KPMG Norway – Senior Manager Cyber Risk
Thijs Timmerman is a senior manager within KPMG’s Cyber Security Services department. He is responsible for KPMG’s maritime security services based in Norway and leads projects of various sizes. With his project teams, he helps organisations in assessing, designing and improving their information risk management strategy, as well as in designing insightful cyber risk monitoring reporting capabilities. Having been an interim Chief Information Security Officer, he also knows the other side of the table – strengthening his multidimensional vision on cyber in the boardroom.
In addition, Mr. Timmerman is actively involved in KPMG’s global innovation program where he cooperates with fast-growing start-ups in the information and intelligence area.
Mr. Timmerman started his career at KPMG in The Netherlands, where he was program manager for KPMG NL’s innovation agenda as part of the Global Strategic Growth Initiative. He moved to Norway in 2017 and brought his international experience on innovative cyber solutions to the Norwegian industry.
Prior to joining KPMG, Mr. Timmerman completed an MSc in Industrial and Applied Mathematics at Eindhoven University of Technology, with a focus on discrete mathematics and cryptographic applications. In addition, he completed a master’s in IT Audit, Compliance and Advisory from VU University Amsterdam. He now applies his analytical skills and information protection knowledge in the energy, maritime and financial sectors.
